How do you take Marplan tablets?
Marplan is supplied in scored 10 mg peach-colored tablets. The scores on the tablets make it easier for people taking Marplan to break the tablets in half as they follow their physician’s dosing directions. Marplan therapy is commonly started by taking one 10mg tablet twice daily. The physician may then decide to increase the dosage in increments of one tablet (10mg) every 2 to 4 days and go up to 4 tablets daily by the end of the first week of treatment. Dosage may then be increased by increments of up to 20mg per week, if needed and tolerated, up to a maximum recommended dose of 60mg per day. The total daily dosage of Marplan tablets should be taken in 2 to 4 parts distributed through the day. After the doctor has determined that maximal clinical response has been achieved, an attempt will be made to reduce the total dosage slowly over a period of several weeks as long as it doesn’t jeopardize symptom relief. PLEASE NOTE: Beneficial effects may not be seen in some patients until they have been on therapy for 3 to 6 weeks. |
