Eating Right While Taking Marplan

Because Marplan relieves the symptoms of depression by inhibiting the enzyme Mono Amine Oxidase (MAO), patients should avoid certain foods that affect MAO metabolism. Consumption of these foods (such as wine or aged cheese) can not only interfere with Marplan’s favorable action but also may produce serious side effects.
